Temperature Rise Test on 2000 Amps Bridge Rectifier

Test Results To Prove 2000 Amps Output capability

The photo of the 2000 Amps Bridge Assembly is shown Figure 1:

Figure 1

Tests were performed on Figure 1 per set up of Figure 2:

Figure 2

Test results are shown below:

  1. Primary Input: 149 VAC, 28 Amps, 3 PH, 60 Hz approximately
  2. Input power: 149 x 28 x 1.732 = 7225 VA
  3. Secondary output: 2.56 VAC L-L, 800 Amps approximately
  4. Transformer output power = 2.56 x 800 x 3 = 6144 VA approximately
  5. DC output: 100 mV (2000 Amps)
  6. Test was run for 15 minutes
  7. Worst case heat sink temperature measured: 138°F
  8. Worst case hockey puck temperature measured: 168°F
  9. Fan 1 and fan 2 are ON during the test.
Conclusion:
  1. Hockey pucks are 2000 amp capability.
  2. Hockey pucks are functional up to 80°C or 176°Foperating temperature.
  3. The test proves that Figure 1 is good for 2000 Amps capability.
  4. To increase the capability to 2500 Amps, forced cooling as shown in Figure 3 is recommended. Fan 1 and Fan 2 are parts of the 2000 Amps Bridge Assembly. Fan 3 and Fan 4 are additional fans installed on the enclosure to exhaust air flow.

Refurbished Delta DC Rectifier, 0 to 84 VDC, 200 Amps (Used in the On-Site Sodium Hypochlorite Generator System), Project 5301C

    Product Overview

Delta DC Rectifiers made by Delta DC Power Inc. which is no longer in business are used at Waste Water Plants and Municipal Water Districts throughout USA and Canada. These units tend to overheat and fail due to continuous operation over an extended period of time.

CEHCO can repair, upgrade and refurbish Delta DC Rectifiers. We can also supply spare parts or provide a brand new equivalent replacement unit.

The photos of the nameplate and the Delta Rectifier with 480 VAC, 3 PH input and 0 to 84 VDC, 200 Amps output are shown below:

    System Overview

    Figure A

    Figure B

    Figure C

    A. The location of the 120 VAC controlled signal is shown on Figure A. The 120 VAC, 1 PH, 60 Hz is applied at pins 1 and 2 to turn the system ON.

    B. The location of the input power 480 VAC is shown on Figure A The 480 VAC, 3 PH, 60 Hz power from the facility is connected to the unit at that location.

    C. The location of the three phase monitor is shown on Figure A If the 480 VAC phasing is incorrect, a red light is observed on the three phase monitor. Reverse any to leads (from L1, L2 and L3), so that the three phase monitor shows a green light.

    D. The location of pins 5 and 6 is shown on Figure A When pins 5 and 6 contacts are normally open (NO), it indicates a no fault condition. When pins 5 and 6 contact are normally closed (NC), it indicates a fault condition and 480 VAC, 3 PH power is removed from the system.

    E. The location of DC output is shown on Figure C The 0 to 84 VDC, 200 Amps is available at + and – inside the enclosure.

    F. The location of 4/20 mA voltage signal is shown on Figure A. This signal is connected to the PLC.

    G. The location of 4/20 mA current signal is shown on Figure A This signal is connected to the PLC

    H. The location of the voltage adjust is shown on Figure A This is a one turn potentiometer. When the knob is adjusted clockwise from minimum to maximum, the DC output voltage changes from 0 VDC to 84 VDC.

    I. The location of the current adjust is shown on Figure A This is a ten turn potentiometer. When the potentiometer is fully clockwise, the current control is not used. It is suggested that this current adjust potentiometer should be kept at in the fully clockwise position. If current limiting is desired, rotate current adjust potentiometer counter clockwise.

    J. The location of the 4/20 mA voltage signal adjust is shown on Figure A This is a ten turn potentiometer. Adjustment of this potentiometer provides proper 4/20 mA voltage to the PLC.
