Bridge Rectifier Assemblies are constructed by packaging diodes and/or SCR’s components with heat sink extrusions in a diode bridge circuit. A bridge rectifier power supply can be a four diode assembly or a six diode assembly. A six diode bridge assembly has significantly lower ripple content (5%) than a four diode bridge assembly (50%). These rectifiers can be diode assemblies, SCR assemblies (consisting of SCRs instead of diodes) or hybrid assemblies (consisting of SCRs and diodes). Product Overview

This is an AC to DC power supply with 4/20 ma interface. Input is 240 VAC, 1 PH, 60 Hz. Output is 0 to 10.5 DC, 130 Amps. This power supply can be interfaced to a PLC system. DC Lighting Power Supply for Movie Studio

Product Overview

CEHCO has built 7 DC lighting power supplies for movie studios since 1945. These units range from 200 KW to 625 KW. We have accumulated a wealth of expertise in developing these units for our customers. The systems are used to provide 60 Hz flicker free 120 VDC lighting for stages during movie production. Mobile units are installed with four wheels.


Power input to the units range from 480 VAC 3 PH to 4160 VAC 3 PH. Some of these units were located in close proximity to computers and other sensitive equipment. Thus the lighting systems were built with suppressors to inhibit EMI noise.

High Voltage SCR Controlled Power Supply, 0 to 2500 VDC, 90 A Output


Product Overview

High voltage SCR controlled power supplies consist of a SCR controller on the 480 VAC three phase input power lines. The three phase power transformer is used to step up the secondary voltage so that after rectification the desired high voltage DC output is achieved. Each diode in the rectifier circuit consists of multiple diodes in series to increase the overall peak inverse voltage (PIV) of the diodes. The high voltage rectifier section is enclosed inside a fiber glass plenum to offer high voltage protection. Circuit breakers, fuses, voltmeters and ammeters can be added per customer requirements.

Selenium Surge Suppressor, PN K25HX6EBC1

Product Overview

Surge suppressors are used to protect circuits from transients (sudden, brief increases in voltage). Transients of widely varying magnitudes are caused by such circuit components as motors, coils, magnets, relays, and transformers. They are found in all electrical systems and they are notorious for damaging diodes, SCRs, transformers, triacs, and relay contacts.

Surge suppressors can be connected across individual components, part of a circuit, or to supply to an entire circuit. When the voltage is normal, they are in an “off” state and do nothing. However, when a transient raises the voltage they react very quickly and conduct the excess around the components they protect. When the transient has passed they return to normal “off” state. It is cheaper to use surge suppressors than it is to buy new components or have equipment out of service. Surge suppressors can be polar (for direct current circuits) or non-polar (for alternating current circuits) and can be assembled in different configurations to offer surge protection form 3 A to 130 A.

CEHCO surge suppressors are assembled from high-quality selenium cells. These selenium surge suppressors are characterized by extremely smooth operation-they pass increasing amounts of current as the voltage increases without the sudden changes that tend to characterize other types of surge suppressors. They have a high shunt capacitance (0.05 MFD per square inch). And they react faster and have higher wattage capability than silicon suppressors. CEHCO builds many Transformer Rectifier assemblies which has a single phase power input. With this design a 4 Diode Rectifier assembly is needed. The output ripple after the Bridge Rectifier Assembly is 50%. This 50% rectified output is O.K. for certain motor applications, where a strict DC output with minimum ripple is not required. CEHCO MRI variable lighting units offer dimming light capabilities in MRI rooms. These MRI power supplies are built to order. When the Green push button is pressed on the front of the enclosure, output rises to the maximum limit. When the Black push button is pressed on the front of the enclosure, output lowers to the minimum limit. Remote operations of the Raise/Lower output are feasible when a cable and two momentary switches are connected to the main enclosure. Remote assembly is included along with the Main unit. Variable DC power supplies are AC to DC power supplies with a variable DC output. The output can be varied with an SCR controller. The AC input power can be single phase or three phase. With single phase AC input, the DC output ripple is very high (50%). With three phase AC input, the DC output ripple is low (5%). This would be a key benefit for selecting three phase AC input instead of single phase.
